They travel to uncommon places in search of three simple wishes: Stalone wants to see the sea, Aninha looks for a husband and Marcio needs to fly. During this search, they embark on several adventures as if life was just child’s play.

Based on true stories, La Riña highlights the polemic of bare knuckle fights in a playboy party where drugs and drinks are served on silver trays. The party attracts rich people, ex-students from the American school in Sao Paulo, who bet fortunes on poor wrestlers confronting* each other inside an empty swimming pool for a few dollars. A journalist has not been invited, but he manages to sneak into this secret place, using his cell phone to film the guests having fun while watching a deplorable combat. Instead of showing typical poverty in Brazil, La Riña unveils the opposite by unmasking a cruel elite.  * The fights were real.

 

SIDE B, HOW TO MAKE A FEATURE FILM WITHOUT MONEY IN BRAZIL, 70′- DOCUMENATARY, Brazil 2007                                                      (writer, director, editor and producer)

It is a documentary film that shows the reality of Brazil’s independent movie making industry through a feature film called “Quarta B”, which was produced with only US$ 15,000 and received the first prize by way of popular vote at São Paulo International Film Festival in 2005. Though the context is rather saddening, the documentary shows – in a humorous light – the drama to produce the film over four years. Several well-known directors and producers in Brazil have given their feedback and words of wisdom on screen
